Serve as a BLOCK CAPTAIN on a BLOCK TEAM: Grassroots organizing, like democracy itself, requires the engagement of the people. The Block Captain facilitates effective grassroots engagement by encouraging democratic participation in critical events, such as caucuses, city and county committee meetings and activities, primary and general elections (including “off-year”) and in volunteering to build our grassroots movement.

As a Block Captain, you will be on the forefront of developing this role as part of a team of volunteer organizers. No Experience? No problem! With some willingness and reasonable commitment, you can learn to do this vital work of inspiring Portland voters to become engaged, informed, and active citizens in our democratic processes.
